Preschool CanSkate
Preschool CanSkate is a learn-to-skate program that emphasizes positive learning through fun and play. Incentives are awarded frequently to recognize participation and improvement. This program is taught in a group lesson format by Professional Club Coaches helped by trained volunteer Program Assistants. Our Coaches and Program Assistants work as a team to ensure that skaters have fun and achieve success on the ice. Continual assessment will be done by our Professional Coach throughout the season.
Day/Time: Mondays/Wednesdays: 3:45 - 4:15 pm

CanSkate Program
The CanSkate Program focuses on fun, fitness, and participation. The program stresses progressive learning through fundamental movements explored in 6 stages of learning: forwards / backwards skating, stopping, turning, spinning, jumping and gliding. Each of the 6 stages has a primary focus; once a skater masters the skills at a stage, he/she is awarded a badge. The stages that may be achieved are:

Awards and incentives are used to motivate skaters to achieve and develop their skills as well as to keep interest high. Badges and Progress Report Cards will be used to update you on your child’s continuing progress.
CanSkate is a feeder program for the Primary Test and STARSkate programs. As well, it will help skaters develop basic skating techniques necessary for ringette and hockey.

Carnival Preparation (Feb-Mar 2012)
This time is used to prepare for the annual Carnival. All skaters are encouraged to participate. There is no additional ice fee; however, other fees (for costumes, pictures, etc.) may apply.
